Angel Quiñones

Throughout my life, I have been blessed to witness the beauty and diversity of this world through travel. These experiences have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the more holistic and community-oriented way of life, where people take care of each other, the earth, and themselves in an intentional and meaningful way.

As someone with a strong connection to my Taíno/Arawak ancestral heritage, the phrase "Bara Yucubia" holds special meaning for me. It translates to "rain for the plants"... I interpret this phrase as a symbol of sustenance that nurtures and fortifies growth. My aspiration is to embody this nurturing essence and extend it to the world as a means of supporting and promoting flourishing.

To pursue this calling, I have dedicated myself to various areas of study, including horticulture, herbalism, and homesteading, as well as the art of photography. By exploring the natural cycles of life through gardening, nurturing my farm animals, and growing my own food and medicine, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things. My photographic work celebrates the awe-inspiring beauty of nature, humanity, and culture, and seeks to capture the essence of these entities in their most authentic form.

Living this way has also given me a profound understanding of the cycles of life, and the importance of honoring and respecting the transitions of birth and death. These moments are all around us, reflected in the changing of the seasons and the rhythms of the natural world.

However, in our current Western cultures, there is often a lack of education and support around these important life events. As a doula, I am committed to changing this by providing compassionate and expert care for those experiencing the transformative journey of birth and death.

My inspiration comes from the deep understanding that these moments are sacred and life-changing, and I am honored to capture their beauty and significance.
